Elmo in the studioFor a while today I had company in my studio. Still much in need of a clean up ( the studio, not the cat) I lost myself in preparing prints to send to my framer and then began to work on something very unusual.

Print preparation, a snow leopard.secret creature growing from paint and paper.

About Jackie

I am an artist and writer. I live in a small house by the sea in Wales where I write, paint, walk and watch and dream of bears and whales. I love to read, have a wish for wings and prefer the company of animals to that of humans, though at times I can be quite friendly. I am learning how to work with wood engraving tools and hoping to show that you can teach an old dog new tricks.

  1. How gorgeous, I do love the effects you can achieve with paint. The shades and hues of blue are gorgeous. It made me chuckle as I spent this evening teaching our staff to mix greys and browns with out using bottled pre-mix and no black or white.

We told stories about colour to use to encourage children to experiment and mix.
Sometimes I love being art coordinator.

Would not have the heart to start doing any tyding ups :)) Never disturbe a dreaming cat-lost in its mouseful dreams 🙂

  3. It’s near midnight here in my City, but the Beltaine fires are roaring strong elsewhere. Therefore it makes perfect sense that a wing-eared dragon would be contemplating a mysterious object-in a cheery room-on a sunny day across the ocean wide and wild,. it makes perfect sense that a cat lies curled in quilted down dreaming Spring things. The green man knows his time has come for death and resurrection! Singing can be heard afar. Drums and mighty laughter echo from the hills, and all the trees are dancing. Can the May be far away?

  4. Do you ever bump your head on the sloped ceiling? I ask that because my studio here in Vancouver is a similar style to your studio, and I’m always forgetting the slope is there. Oh well, I’ve only been here for 6 months, I’ll probably learn not to in time. By the way, I think I will be in OXON in time to see you at the art show, so will say “Hi”.
