Easter Giveaway.

Hare with bamboo penPlaying with ink and sketching for a painting, I decided that it was time to have a ‘giveaway’ on my facebook page. So, to win this drawing:

Easter hare, Indian ink with bamboo pen sketchgo to The House of Golden Dreams, ‘like’ the page and share the image on your own facebook wall. Simple. I will, in a couple of weeks, get a pile of numbers and put them in a pot and get Elmo to help me pull one out and whoever’s ‘share’ is the relevant number will win.

If you link back to this post and leave a comment below there will also be a prize of a signed copy of I am Cat for a person similarly chosen at random, complete with a cat doodle and maybe a paw print from Elmo.

  1. Oh….more generosity……and such a thin fellow I want to send him food. I don’t have a face book page (FB resistant), and I’m loathe to be greedy, besides, I will soon have one of your treasures, and I would have only been hoping to win the secondary prize of an Elmo paw print), but I’m content to be absent from that chance and just enjoy the post. I’m off to the Conservatory Gardens on Fifth Avenue at 104th Street to sketch and photograph their formal French, English Herb, and Roman wisteria wall high on a hill above an expanse of lawn with it’s spouting fountain that so delights the children. No doubt their will be much Easter finery to observe as well. Wishing you and Elmo some sweet hours (different time zone leaves me not knowing if it’s day or night there).

I’m on WordPress, Blogger and Tumblr, but I have steadfastly refused to join Facebook. Enough is enough. However, here is my link: http://theowlunderground.wordpress.com/2012/04/08/the-easter-bunny-is-a-hare/

Do I still get to play?

Oh, one last. I completely forgot to tell you, my daughter went online in November and purchased two ornaments from your site. One was the two Cheetah’s in the bowl and the other is the Cheetah with the lovely bird on his head. She knew I had been coveting them for sometime and I was thrilled to get them. Thank you so much for making your art attainable!

    • Jackie says:

I must order some of those! I haven’t seen what they look like even. Keep forgetting about the cafe press site. Must put some more things on there.

I love your willingness to explore different tools … such a wonderful energy! Exploration and celebration. Love!

    • Jackie says:

And I am loving using them. The bamboo pens are amazing. I am just getting into using sable brushes. And I have sable brushes made with duck and goose quills and am hoping on Thursday to collect some raven feathers to make into brushes! Getting very geeky about the tools I am using!

Going to your blog (almost!) every day is one of my ‘must dos’. Love your style. A friend drew you to my attention by giving me an ‘I thought of you’ card she found of an illustration of ‘Little Beau Peep’. I’m an avid knitter!

    • Jackie says:

That reminds me! I need to get prints done of my Beau Peep, and I bought some wool the other day from Rowan and already have 2 part knitted sweaters waiting to be finished!

Love your work Jackie, and have been very impressed by your dedication to your followers! My kids love the books you signed for them at Christmas … and I was especially delighted with the little drawings you did along with the personal dedications. Thanks for brightening up my facebook days with your pictures and your art.

By pure synchronicity I ended up at your Facebook page to see more of your stunning work! (We just bought Lord of the forest to our son who loves tigers and I picked the book because of the amazing art work of yours. ) Thank you for sharing!

  19. Dorothy Langman says:

Wonderful interpretative work from Jackie Morris…the characterful detail in every brush stroke, the direct gaze of the all seeing eye, quiet & alert, regarding the landscape. The shading & contouring of the Hare’s physique oozing personality..the wisdom of whiskers & a brilliant shading of the ears which draws the viewer into the landscape, perhaps a reflection from the light & I see a horizon. You could reach into this work & touch this fellow~ the laconic loping of the ear gives this fellow a contemplative quality…
‘And now, Sir Hare, good-day to you. God guide you to a how-d’ye-do with me… (From the Middle English poem – Names of the Hare – translation by Seamus Heaney)
