Beginnings, with haresIt is always difficult to find the way in to a new book, and using new paints too. Settling to work when my head is full with woodblocks and lino doesn’t help. So, as I was painting the running of hares questions were being asked and answers found, which was good, but now it needs to be re-worked from scratch to make it right. I have put it to one side and begun another piece.

sleeping children and haresThere will be new questions with this piece, new answers. And hopefully a solution. Next time there will also be harebells.

About Jackie

I am an artist and writer. I live in a small house by the sea in Wales where I write, paint, walk and watch and dream of bears and whales. I love to read, have a wish for wings and prefer the company of animals to that of humans, though at times I can be quite friendly. I am learning how to work with wood engraving tools and hoping to show that you can teach an old dog new tricks.

  1. Oh dear, as soon as I saw the running of the hares my heart instantly went out to it and my mind shut out all other thoughts except of West Cottage and the meadow and how I miss OXON now I’m back in Vancouver for a couple of months. I hope, really hope you don’t rework that beautiful piece with those hares and swallows and children.
