I met Audrey through the MBF Christmas cards that I do. Someone sent her one for Christmas. Since then, through facebook I have got to know her better and met a few times at exhibitions, booklaunches, a silver workshop run by Hannah Willow.
When Audrey asked if she could make the quilt that is in Song of the Golden Hare, the ones the children take with them from home, to keep them warm at night while they watch over the golden queen of the hares I said yes. Somehow I hadn’t expected the reality of such a gift to be quite so beautiful or so wondrously touching.
Now we have ideas for working on story quilts together with printed panels from some of my books. Imagine, and East of the Sun, West of the Moon quilt with secret pictures or words stitched into the quilt. A Starlight Sailor quilt to sail away on a sea of dreams. And we would also sell the picture patches so that people could make their own, large or small.
Mine is just beautiful. Thank you Audrey.
