Mary and the postcards

Yesterday boxes of new postcards arrived. These are for Art in Action in July. Some are reprints of best sellers. Some are new. All are taken from books except for one which is a detail from a card. They were printed in Cornwall at Headland Printers. Working with Headland was a pleasure and the cards are fantastic value and quality.

Mary decided to help show them.

Tiger decided to show everyone his favourite card, and a moment later everyone, including tiny elephant joined in.

And the we all decided to give away seven sets of the sixteen cards.

But meanwhile polar bear decided to show his favourite, and the tiny cards of shiny goodness ( business cards).

If you would like to be in with a chance of winning a set then leave a comment on this blog post. If you would like to share it, through twitter or facebook, tumblr or pintrest, on your own blog or just by telling a friend then that would be lovely. And if you might go and have a wander through the walls of The House of Golden Dreams and share from there, that too would be lovely.

I will also pick comments at random and write a postcard, with a special stamp here and there.

The winners will be chosen on 1st July, or there abouts and I am happy to send the cards anywhere in this world.

( ps, Mary and friends are from Celestine and the Hare.)

About Jackie

I am an artist and writer. I live in a small house by the sea in Wales where I write, paint, walk and watch and dream of bears and whales. I love to read, have a wish for wings and prefer the company of animals to that of humans, though at times I can be quite friendly. I am learning how to work with wood engraving tools and hoping to show that you can teach an old dog new tricks.

  55. Neil Young says:

    Ah, Jackie,

When I finish my art therapy course next year I am going to reward myself with a print of one of the images you have included as a card here and use it in whatever room I eventually practise from – β€˜The Space Between the Hare and the Fox: The Space Between the Fox and the Hare.’ I love the visual tension in this image between life and death, love and hate, violence and gentleness, stillness and movement, possibility and obliteration.

This image also reminds me of the Virginia Woolf quote from the film of Michael Cunningham’s book, The Hours: β€œTo look life in the face, always, to look life in the face, and to know it for what it is. At last, to love it for what it is, and then, to put it away.”

    Beautiful – thank you x

I just returned from Zanzibar where I worked on an animal sanctuary for 2 years – it was an amazing experience and I learnt to love all manner of creatures .. even the scabby and sick ones that once I would have recoiled at ..
