The last.

messToday I have painted the last pictures for East of the Sun, West of the Moon. Yesterday when I spoke to my publisher she asked when they could expect delivery of the artwork for my next book, The Panda’s Child! Not fair, I said. I am busy hunting and catching words and my head is full of hares.

A bit like giving birth really, but less painful in some ways and more painful in others. She’s now going to be whisked away by a dedicated team of designer, editor and sales people for a new birth next August, I hope, where she will be given wings to fly.

And how does it feel? Well, I feel confused and a bit shattered, and in need of time to play and rest and walk and think and sit and watch.

About Jackie

I am an artist and writer. I live in a small house by the sea in Wales where I write, paint, walk and watch and dream of bears and whales. I love to read, have a wish for wings and prefer the company of animals to that of humans, though at times I can be quite friendly. I am learning how to work with wood engraving tools and hoping to show that you can teach an old dog new tricks.

  1. a well deserved time off for play and thought and what ever renews you. I’m hoping to find some of your books in New York soon. There’s got to be a seller here. Send information if you know. I just spent time in the house of golden dreams again just marveling at the quantity and quality of the work you’ve wrought so well. Window shopping-dreaming.
