The Snow Whale by Caroline Pitcher
illustrated by Jackie Morris

published by Frances Lincoln 1996
(also published in USA)

One November morning when the hills are hump-backed with snow, Laurie and Leo decide to build something in the garden, not a snowman, but a whale. As they shovel and pat and polish to bring the snow whale out of the hill the whale gradually takes on a life of his own. A very cosy and domestic book that begs to be read in front of a log fire with tea and cake.

This was an unusual book for me as it the only one, so far, where I used coloured pencils instead of paint.
