A Flock of Harrier Winged Angels

Posted on May 16, 2026

In The Book of Birds, now a Times Best Seller after only a week in the wild, there is a reference to a church in the fens where the ceiling is vaulted with angels. Robert Macfarlane made a beautiful program about this for BBC Radio 4. Have a listen.

Today at Solva Woollen Mill in the High Street, St Davids, we were visited by so many angels. Lovely to do an event in my home town. Thanks to all who came and to Tom and Anna of Solva Woollen Mill. I signed loads of books, including online orders. More stock due in soon. For now, here be angels.

If you haven’t bought this book yet, you need to. The pictures and words have been worth the wait.
I look forward to dipping in and out of the pages for many years, might need a copy for best as the first might become as dog eared as my Ladybird books.
